Moral and Legal Issues in WWII and Today's Economy and International LawSunday, April 15, 2012 at 2:00pm
Presented by Russ Leng, Jermain Professor Emeritus of Political Economy and International Law, Middlebury College This lecture is a discussion on the central moral issues related to war. When is it morally permissible to go to war? How may wars be fought, what kinds of people are subject to attack and what type of weapons may be used. Views on these issues have changed over time and WWII represented something of a watershed with regard to these questions. Changes in warfare (guerrilla operations and international terrorism) have subsequently made these issues more difficult of solution. |
